JFHML FRIENDS FOUNDATION
The Hallett Library Presents:

The Jessie F. Hallett Memorial Library lost a dear friend. Longtime Head Librarian Jeanette Smith, who retired at age 87 back in 2006, was well-known to residents of the Cuyuna Range.
Jeanette has left behind the legacy of a true pioneering spirit. She was well-versed in local history and a friend to all. She was a wife (of 65 years), mother (of eight), grandmother, great-grandmother, Friday Study Club member, and teacher. She was an indomitable character who in the 1980’s ushered in a new era at the Library, embracing the computer age, at a time when the changes were daunting and unknown.
If you knew Jeanette, you knew of her passion for her family, her community, her job and her faith. You also knew of her delightful sense of humor and her infectious giggle.
Jeanette grew old gracefully and never tiring, worked well into her sunset years. Her Finnish pride and willingness to keep learning was admirable.
Jeanette was raised as an only child, and found wonder in the world around her. She loved holidays, travel and family most of all. She will be missed, and yet her presence will be all around us. Thank you Jeanette, for the difference you have made in each of our lives...
